The Deep Abyss

The deep sea is home to many unique plants and animals. The suns rays only penetrates about 300 meters below the waters surface. So anything below that quite dark. In 1977, scientists discovered hot springs in the deep ocean. Some can reach 1000 c. Those hot springs supply energy to the strange life down deep.

Living among the hot springs are hydrogen sulfide-oxidizing bacteria. This bacteria is the base in the food chain for the deep sea ecosystem. The bacteria live off the hydrogen sulfide produced by the hot springs. This chemical is said to smell like bad eggs. It comes from the earths center. then is spewed into the ocean.

In the late 1980's scientists documented a dim glow from the sea bed. It was a geothermal vents. They are under intensive research right now. Have light on the sea floor is very significance. That is because it implies that photosynthesis can take place. With that plant life is possible.

The deep sea is most interesting and quite intreaging. The study of something sooo far down is amazing. I really enjoy learning about the unknown. This deep sea, like space, I believe we don't know everything about it. Maybe one day we will.

Greatness! Nice, short and sweet, the way I like it. You have a good take on the information, and provided some background to the theories that exist today. Great touch on the photosynthesis that provides plant life in the ocean blue.
Fabulously yours,
Megan

Be careful with your writing. Your paragraphs are getting very short. (as are many of your replies to classmate's posts.) Three are currently under six sentences each, with one only containing four sentences. If you want to continue to get credit for your writing, paragraphs must contain six to eight sentences each.
