The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory is our current belief in how our universe began. Our universe all began in a state of "singularity." "Singularity" is a state which defies our understanding of physics. It is where an infinite amount of matter is squished into infinite amount of density. These "singularity's" are also said to be at the center of black holes. Black holes are areas of intense gravitational pressure.

After being at the state of "singularity" our universe inflated. This is said to be the "Big Bang." It started being very, very small and very, very hot. Then expanded and cooled to how our universe is now. Even now it is still expanding and cooling. That is the Big Bang Theory.

There are misconceptions surrounding the Big Bang Theory. When you think of "Big Bang" you think of an explosion. It was no explosion at all. It started out very small and very dense and has expanded and is still expanding. Don't imagining a balloon exploding. Imagine a balloon expanding and still expanding.

I think it is true that there are mislead people. They think that it all started with a giant explosion. The "Big Bang" should be changed. It only puts the wrong idea into our heads. It should be called "The Great Expansion." Who ever came up with the first name is a moron!

Solar System / Galaxy

Galaxies are clusters of gas, dust, and stars. These are held together by gravitational force. Galaxies could contain anywhere from 100,000,000 to 3,000,000,000 stars each. Not sure about you but I can't even imagin that many stars. We happen to live in the Milky Way Galaxy which is a spiral galaxy. Our solar system is on one of the arms of the galaxy.

A solar system is a sun and the collection of celestial bodies that orbit it. Our solar system consists of the sun and nine planets. Or eight if you are the kind to not count Pluto. How can you not count Pluto? Mickey Mouse would not be happy with you. So there are billions of solar systems per galaxy and there are billions of galaxies in our universe.

To think that we are the only planet with living creatures is nuts. If you calculate all of the galaxies with all the solar systems with all the planets there has to be other life. I believe there is plenty of life in our galaxy alone. Not including the billions of other galaxies. Space is one of the most interesting subjects. Maybe one day we will confirm life out side our own planet. Possibily Optimus Prime, or Bumble Bee.

Birth and Death of a star

Stars are born from dense clouds of gasses. Usually in the arm of a spiral galaxy. Hydrogen atoms fall, increasing their speed and energy, toward the center of the cloud. This is happens due to the star's gravity. When the hydrogen energy increases it produces heat. After this process goes on for millions of years the temprature reaches about 20 million degrees fahrenheit.

Once at this extreme temprature there are a series of nuclear reactions. These reactions mark the birth of a star. Just like how the hydrogen brought life to a star its depletion will cause it's death. The first sign of a stars death is the swelling and reddening of its outer edges. When it is at this stage it is called a Red Giant. A white dwarf is what stars, like our sun, become after they have used up all their nuclear fuel.

As you can see our sun will become a whit dwarf when the end comes. Red Giants are bigger stars when their nuclear energy is comming to an end. Now black holes are remnant of a massive star that has used it's nuclear fuel and has collapsed into a zero volume under tremendous gravity. It is at the point of "singularity." This is where the pressure and density are infinite. Scientists believe that black holes make up 90% of the universe.

I enjoy the topics about space, stars, and our universe. I think that stars are very interesting. Yet I don't think we know as much about them are we think. Also the topic of black holes really intreges me. We need to know more about our sun because it's a big part of our life. If it isn't there neither are we.

Science v. Pseudoscience

For many years science is confussed with pseudoscience. It causes people to be misinformed or make rash choices, but there are ways to tell the "right" from the "made up." The definition of science is to achieve a more complete and more unified understanding of the physical world. Pseudoscience is a theory, methodology, or practice that is considered to be with out scientific foundation. You see, pseudoscience is not factual and is usually driven by commercial goals. As for science, it is based on fact which went through plenty of experiments to be proven true.

With pseudoscience, it is used to provoke the individuals ego or to gain ones support. If you tell the people what they want to hear, when it isn't true, your doing just to gain their support. I could be easy to fall for pseudoscience. Science however is not told to be liked or gain support. It is tell facts. Science is tested, observed, experiment on, and re-tested for it to be correct....not liked.

I can see how advertising is a good place to use pseudoscience. They can say what you want to hear so you buy their product. Pass it off as science and your hook line and sinkered. To know if its science you need to check it's source or reference. If it has been test and is a fact, it's good. Don't be fooled by pseudoscience.
